Terracotta warriors in Xi'an

China,
by feeling.

Start with what moves you. We will build the route, the guides and the pace around it — and leave room for the moments no itinerary can plan.

The five collections

A journey should feel
like it was made for you.

Most of our travellers come with an interest rather than an itinerary. These collections are the starting points we return to — never fixed packages, always a way into China.

Imperial China
Imperial China

The China you
came for.

There is a reason these places are famous. The Great Wall at sunrise, the Forbidden City before the tour groups, the Terracotta Army standing in its own quiet pits — they are as extraordinary as the photographs suggest, if you arrive at the right time.

We build the days around light, crowds and breathing room. A quieter section of the Wall. The Forbidden City at opening. A hutong lunch when the morning is done.

Food & daily life
Food & daily life

The country
between the sights.

China is best understood at a table. A bowl of noodles in a family kitchen, dumplings folded by hand, Sichuan pepper that numbs and then blooms, tea poured in a courtyard house.

We work with local food guides and families rather than stage-managed restaurants. Vegetarian, halal and allergy needs are planned in advance — not improvised on the day.

Mountains & rivers

Landscapes that
reset your scale.

The Li River's karst peaks, the rice terraces at Longji, the granite cloud sea of Huangshan and the high trails above Tiger Leaping Gorge. China's landscapes are as varied as its history.

We match the walking to your comfort level and keep the transfers scenic. Sunrise matters, so we build the route around where you sleep.

Pandas & families
Pandas & families

A first China
for younger travellers.

China is an easy place to travel with children if the days are built properly: a panda morning, a cooking class, a high-speed train with space to move, and a hotel with a pool at the end of the day.

We shorten transfers, choose family rooms and match guides to your children's ages. Chengdu and Beijing work especially well as a first pairing.

Tibet & the Silk Road
Tibet & the Silk Road

The edges of
the map.

Tibet and the Silk Road ask more of a traveller: altitude, permits, long horizons and early starts. They also give back some of the most profound moments in Asia.

We handle the permits, oxygen support and acclimatisation. On the Silk Road we use flights where they save days and keep the desert crossings in the hands of guides who know them.
