Huangshan has inspired Chinese painters for centuries: vertical granite peaks, twisted pines and clouds that move through the valleys like water. A night on the mountain gives you sunrise above the cloud line.
At the foot of the range, the old Hui villages of Hongcun and Xidi are a study in white walls, dark tiles and reflective ponds. It is an easy, beautiful extension to Shanghai or Hangzhou.
